Alexandra Almonacid-Popma, MD

Dr. Almonacid- Popma received her Medical Degree from University del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. She is the Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Core Laboratory at Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  The core laboratory under her supervision has developed innovative methods for the analysis of cardiovascular imaging to better understand the outcomes of patients undergoing new device therapy for the treatment of their disease state. A fundamental component of her research laboratory is to train Research Associates in the methods of scientific research and publication.  Over the last 15 years, these trials have included a broad array of new technology in the cardiovascular field, including bare metal stents, drug eluting stents, bioabsorbable scaffolds, distal protection devices, total occlusion devices, renal denervation systems, peripheral revascularization procedures and transcatheter valve intervention. Dr. Almonacid-Popma is the Chief Operating Officer at Baim Institute for Clinical Research where she oversees all trial operations with focus in the following areas: Project Management, Site Management and Monitoring, Data Management, Clinical Endpoint Event Adjudication, and Safety.
