Dr. Cutlip earned his MD from the University of South Florida, completed internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut, and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, MA. Dr. Cutlip is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Section Chief of Interventional Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is Chief Medical Officer at Baim Institute for Clinical Research where he directs trial clinical operations, clinical event adjudication, and data safety monitoring activities. His research is related to design and outcomes of clinical trials of coronary, valvular, and peripheral vascular intervention. He has been an international leader in clinical event adjudication methods and has developed many of the operating procedures for Baim Institute in this area. In 2006, he co-founded the Academic Research Consortium, which has promoted standardization of endpoints and clinical trial methods for cardiac device clinical trials among academic research organizations, industry sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
