Pascal Vranckx, MD

Dr. Pascal Vranckx is a Clinical Consultant in Interventional Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiac Critical Care Services at the Hartcentrum Hasselt in Belgium. He is professor in medicine (Pharmacology) at the faculty of medicine and life sciences at the University of Hasselt, Belgium. Previously Dr. Vranckx was clinical director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam.

Dr. Vranckx obtained his medical degree in 1989 at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where Dr. Vranckx also gained postdoctoral degrees in intensive care medicine, and hospital management & public health. He obtained a doctoral thesis in medical science at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and an MBA at the Vlerick Business School, Gent-Leuven-Brussels, Belgium.

Dr. Vranckx is past secretary of the Acute CardioVascular Care Association (ACVC), currently ex-officio board member of the Acute CardioVascular Care Association (ACVC) and is also a chair of the medical committee of the Red Cross Flanders, Belgium.

Dr. Vranckx has authored over 200 publications and 11 books and is the editor-in-chief of the ESC Textbook of Acute Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine 2015, 2020 and an associate editor of the ACVC clinical decision-making toolkit. In February 2020 he was appointed editor-in-chief of the European Heart Journal Acute Cardiovascular Care.
