Wally Omar, MD

Dr. Wally Omar is an Interventional Cardiologist specializing in coronary and structural heart disease. Dr. Omar is the Director of Structural Heart Interventions at Northwell Health. His clinical interests are in valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, vascular disease, adult congenital heart disease, and mechanical circulatory support.  Using transcatheter and electrosurgical techniques, he performs valve replacements and repairs, left atrial appendage occlusion, patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect closures, as well as left ventricular septal reduction therapy. In addition, he performs complex coronary and vascular interventions.

Under the mentorship of Dr. C. Michael Gibson, Dr. Omar has designed, executed and enrolled patients in large-scale multicenter clinical trials. During a clinical and research fellowship in Structural Heart Interventions at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he played a pivotal role in the execution of similarly large, multicenter clinical trials to assess the latest innovations in transcatheter heart surgeries. He is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and is enrolled in a Masters in Clinical Research Design program at Columbia University.

Dr. Omar completed internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed additional fellowships in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Interventions at the Beth Israel Deaconess.
